Gardens at work: a national movement takes root

Working hands. Active Bodies. Expanding minds. Change in the workplace. Haberman has long been passionate about food issues. In 2009, to further immerse ourselves in the food sector, we started our own organic employer-sponsored garden. Our employees work in the garden and reap the benefits of fresh vegetables and a deeper understanding of how to grow organic food and live a healthier lifestyle.

Results:

  • Our garden was awarded the "Best HR Idea for Benefits" by HR Executive magazine, and has been featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Star Tribune and Grist.com.
  • We've built relationships with dozens of other leading companies and organizations that share our love of gardening and are on the front lines of a new movement to bring more gardens to life nationwide.
  • Haberman storytellers and their families are eating more organic produce.
