Renee Kelly could be anything and do it really, really well. Fashion designer, actress, model, surfer, snowboarder, museum curator, full-time celebrity, shopper for hire, world traveler, dairy farmer or just an all around Diva (which she kind of is).
But in her heart, she was, is and will always be…a professional communicator. And her path to Haberman began one spring afternoon years ago, when a tall, lanky, blond man visited Renee’s communications class at the University of St. Thomas to talk about public relations. Other business leaders had visited the class before, but this guy was different.
“Aside from a crumpled scrap of paper, he didn’t have notes,” Renee said of guest speaker Fred Haberman. “He waved his arms around. He talked loudly. He was very passionate. He swore during the presentation. A lot. He kept checking his zipper. But, most important, he didn’t take himself too seriously. I don’t either, so I knew then I wanted to work with him.”
Soon thereafter, Renee indeed joined Fred’s tribe. Today, Renee leads the TEL.A.VISION and Organic Trade Association accounts, and provides strategic council and media relations to clients such as Organic Valley and Annie's. Renee also has held critical roles in Earthjustice campaigns, Sustainable Table’s Eat Well Guided Tour of America, the Minneapolis Public Library grand opening and many others.
She does it all, and she does it really, really well. Renee approaches her work with calmness, thoughtfulness and drive (a testament to her obsession with yoga) – and always with an eye toward ensuring every team member stays informed and feels energized to be a part of a team.
