Pete Stoddart
Pete is a 20-year PR veteran who has created and
directed sales-driving, brand-building campaigns for first-of-kind
consumer products, invigorated companies’ visibilities
and helped avert reputation-damaging media coverage. He has
led public relations, cause marketing, employee communications,
crisis management and community giving programs for marquee
B2C and B2B companies such as Target, Best Buy, Wells Fargo
and American Express Retirement Services. On numerous occasions,
he has placed stories in and been quoted by major media outlets
such as CNN, Time, The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company.
Today, Pete co-leads Haberman & Associates' consumer business.
Pete formerly was director of public relations for Minneapolis-based Ceridian Corporation where he oversaw media relations for five business units and for the corporation. He also managed the company’s national charitable giving program. Additionally, he was a member of a team of internal and external advisors that managed employee, media and customer communications during a proxy fight with a dissident shareholder and financial transaction to take the company private. One of his proudest personal and professional accomplishments came in 2007 when he created and implemented what now stands as the Ceridian’s most successful United Way campaign—an effort that generated more than $1 million in charitable giving.
Pete lists his favorite PR moment as the time he coaxed PGA Tour pro Tom Lehman into hitting a golf ball for a photo op off the first tee of the Minneapolis Golf Club on a frigid January day when the high temperature was 10 below zero. Lehman’s now infamous “frozen tee shot” photo graced the covers of two newspapers the following day.
Pete has a bachelors of arts degree from St. John’s University. He also has served as an adjunct professor in the Masters of Business Communications program at the University of St. Thomas and on the board of directors for Youth Frontiers, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization whose vision is to change the way young people treat each other in every hallway, lunch line, and classroom of every school in America..
